Abstract

When we study history, we find that there is a holy and respectable day for every religion. Jews have sabbath on which they got rid of Pharaoh therefore they considered it as a holy day. Sunday is sacred for Christians as Esa ascended towards the sky although it has not been mentioned in the Bible nor Esa ordered his followers to celebrate it as a sacred day. Islam has called Jumma as the best day of all the days in a week and specified it for worship as Allah has commanded to do worship on it
and has forbidden us to do trade at the time of Jumma prayer. Jumma has a great importance in Islam and history. Allah has bestowed us Jumma as compared to Jews which were the sabbath day and has instructed us to respect it and don't behave like Jews as they did not give due respect to sabbath. In Islam it is an important day for the purification of their souls to create sense of gathering among them as Islam stresses to live a social life. Islam stresses to pray in mosque instead of praying alone at home. Similarly, Islam preferred that Jumma prayer should be offered in jamia
masjid instead that of a village mosque. Jumma prayer was first made obligatory in Makkah but it was offered firstly in Madina by Asaad bin zararah by the order of Rasool. After it becomes obligatory Hazrat Masaab bin umair R.A. offered it in Madina and Rasool s.a.w. offered it in the town of Banu Salim in Madina
