Abstract

This paper elaborates the difference between Imam Ibn Hazm and the rest of the community of hadith scholars (Muhadithin) regarding the ignorance of a narrator. This difference has been discussed in different points. One of the significant points is the meaning of ignorance between Hafiz Ibn Hazm and rest of the hadith scholars. The second important point is the comparative study of the judgment of a narrator between Ibn Hazm and other groups of scholars. The third point is to discuss some of the narration which Imam Ibn Hazm has rejected due to the ignorance of the narrators. The fourth vital point is discussion of the fairness and unawareness of a companion of the
Prophet. This paper also cast light over some of the names of the companions of the Prophet whom Hafiz Ibn Hazm has termed inactive.
