Abstract

Agricultural research and development play an important role in the food security of the country's ever-growing population. Pakistan Agricultural Research Council as an apex agricultural research institution is responsible for implementation of government policy. The Council is making every effort to modernize its research agenda to meet the emerging challenges of the country's agricultural sector. Urgent efforts are needed to adopt more sustainable and technologically advanced methods of agriculture. We aim to adopt modern techniques for sustainable use of our natural resources, genomic improvement of crop and livestock breeds for better productivity, and precision farming. Overall, efforts are being made to focus agricultural research on innovative lines for integrated, sustainable and profitable farming to increase productivity, better nutrition, the environment and better lives
